Adrián Sandoval

Adrián I. Sandoval was born and raised in small-town Las Vegas, New Mexico—the original Las Vegas! He moved to the big city of Albuquerque as a teenager. He’s grown to embrace both his rural and urban experiences. At the University of New Mexico, Adrián achieved his goal of recapturing Spanish, his heritage language. He also works to maintain his fluency in French and Diné (Navajo). Since then, Adrián has been an experienced educator, professional learning provider, and leader for over 30 years. He’s served as a program coordinator, interim district-level director, and state-level administrator. He is the current director of the Center for the Education and Study of Diverse Populations (CESDP) at New Mexico Highlands University. Adrián believes in the importance of creating strong family and community partnerships with K-12 public schools and supporting leadership in ways that nurture multilingualism and multiculturalism as social, professional, and cognitive assets.
